Hey All the Bookworms!
My last review on the
Attention Bookworm section was about a Bengali novel. Today I feel like sharing
my review on a completely different genre of book and it’s a crime novel released
in 1985 written be Sidney Sheldon (I love
his books!!! Filled with so much thrills, crime and mysteries, plot twists
occurs like a rollercoaster’s speed!)
The book I am talking about is If Tomorrow Comes and there were TV miniseries released based on this story in 1986. There was also a Korean series based on it. It was an international bestseller!
This story is about a young woman, Tracy Whitney, is about to be
on the peak of her success in a prominent bank in Philadelphia she works and
going to be married to Charles Stanhope III, a wealthy heir from a prominent
family, she is carrying Charles' baby, and she is expecting a promotion after
her honeymoon.
But she was so shocked, driven with anger and
wanted to set straight when she came to knew her mother, Doris Whitney, has
committed suicide after Joe Romano, the right-hand man of New Orleans Mafia Don
Anthony Orsatti, scammed Doris into letting him sell all of her assets in her
small auto-parts company and left her with a huge debt and charges of fraud. Tracy
returns to New Orleans in attempt to make Romano into confessing her mother's
innocence (buys a gun to scare him to write the confession) and reaches his
house and he tried to rape him by disarming her but accidentally she shoots
him.
She escaped the scene after calling for ambulance
but the police caught her and the attorneys (who also worked for the mafia)
convinced her for guilty plea that will give her 3 months of jail but that
actually ended into a 15 years jail time(judge was mafia’s guy too). Charles
breaks up with her to avoid being connected to the scandal, abandoning her and
his unborn child.
The horrible jail life she started living with all
her dreams shattered! But she was not a person to give up. The story seems like
a sad story till now and I felt bad for her misfortunes. But it was only the beginning
of her journey. But she has a plan now; she is not anymore the person you feel
bad for. Telling more of this story will be me giving spoilers! Just know this
story will get so much thrilling and you will be amazed by the wit, courage,
her methods of taking revenge and her cons!
I loved the tensions, plot twists, great character and
the emotional development, romance, sex and definitely the ending! My rating
of this book will be 9.95/10!!
A great book to read in the weekend and it will keep
you hooked till you finish it! (Take my words for it!)
