Anime = Mind Blown

Again HoJoBoRoLo is back with another Anime review!!!

This time my review is not about an anime series rather an animated movie. I really liked the concept and story flow of this movie so I felt the nag to tell everyone about it!

I am talking about the movie “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time”.

Genre: Fantasy/Mystery/ Romance/ Friendship

It was released in the year 2006 by Madhouse production and by Mamoru Hosoda and written by Satoko Okudera.

It won 9/10 awards it was nominated for including Sitges Film Festival’s for  Best Animated Film(2006), Japan Academy prize for animation of the year(2007)!!!

Okay, now it’s time to head towards the plot!  

Plot:

Makoto Konno a high school going teenager, loves playing baseball lives with her family in Tokyo.

One ordinary day she comes cross a walnut shaped object and later on that day she faces a train accident when her cycle break stops working. But instead of dying she went back in time just few moments before the accident and hit a lady dropping her shopping bag and fell off from her bike. She has an aunt Kazuko, who works in a museum. She was on her way to meet her, she explained what happened earlier and her aunt said she can leap through time as time itself cannot be reverted.

Makoto uses most of her leaps carelessly, to prevent unwanted situations from happening, including an awkward love confession from her best friend Chiaki Mamiya. Makoto eventually discovers a numbered tattoo on her arm which indicates the limited number of times she can time leap. Using her remaining time leaps, Makoto attempts to make things right for everyone. But she didn’t have enough leaps left so a lot of things start to turn tensed and complicated and interesting facts are revealed about her friends as the story proceeds and the movie starts to feel captivating. As for me, I totally got into the story while I was near intermission and could not get up from my chair till I finished it!!!

The animation and graphics was overall good and as for music I didn’t notice much because I was so much engulfed by the plot.I liked the romantic and emotional development a lot. 

My personal rating about this animated movie would be 8.5/10 must watch anime and the ending was better than what I was expecting but certainly great.
